Happy Thetans and the Real Deal

David Beckham leaves Real Madrid a winner, helping the team to its first Primera Liga title since he joined the team. Even Tom Cruise and his fellow survivors of Xenu's Galactic Confederacy were on hand to fete the feat. After Beckham catches his breath, he can come to the MLS and help the LA Gals reverse their slide. Between Yallop, Donovan, and Beckham, the Gals should still be able to find a way to the MLS Cup playoffs. And they'll do it with new colors, since they're rebranding themselves -- Yellow and Green makes Sir Becks look jaundiced, you know.

Also in La Liga, Athletic Bilbao helped their own cause by beating Levante in its final match and avoiding relegation. I know that was greeted with cheers by more than just a few folks.

More locally, the CONCACAF Gold Cup pits Canada vs USA and Mexico vs Guadeloupe in the semis on Thursday. Both should be good matches. Mexico should be concerned; Guadeloupe beat a Canada and Honduras to get here.

Lets recap the Beckham soap opera, he finds out that Real Madrid will not resign him (his contract expires today),obviously he starts looking for a team to play for, LA Galaxy talks to him and offer something Real Madrid doesn't do for their mega stars, they offer him a huge chunk of the revenue they will get from merchandising Beckham's image (that's why he will get so much money, not because LA Galaxy plans to pay him hundreds of millions, he will get millions for playing, but the hundreds will come from the sweet merchandising deal), that is a great deal, Beckham has nothing to prove to anyone, he knows what he was and what he is, he signed with the Galaxy.

Real Madrid that had no plans of resigning him mysteriously gets annoyed by the fact Becham signed for a MLS team and decides to separate him from the team(Capello was the one that took the decision, but he was supported by the board and the president), and they wont even release him from his contract so he can come early to MLS, no, they will pay him for training.

But then Madrid starts playing horribly, horrific results in Champion's league, they start to loose way to many games in the league, so Capello and the board and the president had to go with Beckhan and with a cherry on top had to ask him to play again for them, helping them to obtain the championship, and he gets back to his national team's lineup in the process, what a story.

But the GREATEST news for me, was that Athletic Club Bilbao stays in the league, I'm very sad for my dad, his team (the other Basque team), Real Sociedad de San Sebastian will go to 2nd division, but I'm relief for the Red Lions, Aurrera Athletic, Gora Athletic.

What the heck with the Cinderella story of Guadeloupe, an island of 400,000 that had never ever before qualified for the last round of the Gold Cup, in semifinals on Friday, my bet is that the championship game will be U.S. against Mexico, but then again, these are the worst Mexican and American teams I have ever seen in many, many years, U.S. had a hard time playing against a 10 man Panama, Mexico had to go to extra time to win against a 10 man Costa Rica (then they got 2 more red cards on the extra time, what happened to Costa Rica?, they used to play some good football, but today they decided to play rough, hitting and kicking and tackling), the championship game could be Canada vs Guadeloupe you just never know, but my money is on the U.S. and Mexico.

On a final note, what a horrible field today, I know Reliant's field doesn't get a lot of maintenance between NFL seasons (why would they, no one else uses the field on a regular basis), but I don't blame Reliant stadium, I blame the organization, it looks amateurish to say the least, every time players ran, stopped hard or tried a long pass you could see dirt coming out of the field, you could also see horrible bounces, I know that having the Gold Cup being play on the U.S. on a regular basis is good financially, but at least organize the tournament like the wealthy country America is.
